What Was School Like Growing Up in Benin?

Amb. Kayode Garrick · · English · 0:00

In this episode of ReEngage Voices, 71-year-old Ambassador Kayode Garrick takes us back to his childhood in Benin, Edo State, sharing memories of his early school experience and the world he grew up in. Years later, Mr. Garrick would go on to spend more than three decades in Nigeria’s Foreign Service, serving in diplomatic missions across Africa, Europe, and the Americas, including as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Brazil. But here, we return to something much simpler: his memories of growing up and going to school in Benin. At ReEngage Voices, we believe every life holds stories worth remembering. From the everyday experiences of people in our communities to the journeys of those who have travelled the world, every voice has a place. Because sometimes, understanding a person’s journey begins with asking a simple question: What do you remember about where it all began?
